Writing in a Q&A on Football.London, Chris Wheatley claimed Hertha BSC were really interested in a loan move for Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson over the summer, and they could revive their interest in the winter window.

The two clubs have a strong recent relationship, with Matteo Guendouzi going on loan and Omar Rekik set to head in the other direction in January.

Wheatley adds that a loan is only likely if Nelson has no chance to break through at Arsenal. Right now, his chances actually seem pretty good.

Nelson missed out on a few first-team squads in the last week or so, but that was due to a head injury. Nothing too serious, but given the situation with David Luiz, Arsenal are going to be cautious.

Given the form of some of Arsenal’s other wide options recently, Nelson could well find himself breaking back into the Premier League side regularly over the festive period. If he does, you wouldn’t expect him to leave on loan in January.
