Thomas Partey shouldn’t be out for too long, according to reports, with the Ghana FA also providing an update on the situation.

TheAFCBell report that Thomas Partey is still awaiting confirmation on the specifics of his injury from club specialists and doctors. However, the early indications are that the injury won’t keep him out for too long.

The Ghana FA add that he’s out of their AFCON qualifiers against Sudan, withdrawing from international duty. They write that Arsenal have confirmed the midfielder picked up a minor ankle sprain against Aston Villa, and he requires treatment in London.

We know TheAFCBell have close contacts in the Partey camp, after correctly reporting on his transfer to Arsenal all summer. So there’s little reason to doubt the claims.

The one thing worth mentioning is that Charles Watts previously reported a thigh injury for the Ghana international. Presumably, someone just made a mistake, but we’ll have to wait for Arsenal’s official update to find out who was right.

Without having 100% confirmation on what the injury is, it’s hard to put any kind of timeframe on it. The one advantage we have right now is that Partey can rest up over the international break. Mikel Arteta needs him back as soon as possible.
