Patrick Vieira could be heading off to the States if David Beckham gets his wish and makes the Arsenal legend his first manager.

With Arsenal needing a new manager/head coach desperately, Patrick Vieira’s name has been mentioned at times, but he has mostly been kept out of the conversation as Mikel Arteta, Max Allegri and Nuno Espirito Santo, a man who sounds like a spell to summon peak Cazorla, take the spotlight.

Back in October, Vieira admitted it was his dream to one day manage Arsenal and you would have to think that he would stand a better chance of putting himself in the frame for that sort of job by staying in a top European league rather than returning to the USA.

I’m not going to sit here and admit that I’ve played close attention to Patrick Vieira’s managerial career.

I gave it a cursory glance when he was in the States and it was rumoured he was being trained up to become Manchester City manager one day, but after he moved to France I’d be lying if I said I continued to pay attention.

That being said, if you offered me the option of Vieira now or continuing with Emery, I’d take the former option. Does that make sense? Not in the slightest. But then football fans rarely do.

Anyway, Vieira is currently averaging 1.36 points with Nice after 56 games (22 wins, 13 drws, 22 defeats, 54 goals for, 68 against), hardly figures to get people excited and a drop on what he returned in New York (1.58).

At Arsenal, Emery, while boring us all to death, is averaging 1.87 points per game from 77 matches, winning 43, drawing 15, losing 19 while scoring 155 and conceding 103.

Inter Miami have already put Vieira ahead of Roberto Martinez and Marcelo Gallardo and are prepared to pay Nice compensation to land him.
