Lukas Podolski has joined Inter Milan for the rest of the season on loan with only the official announcements to be delivered.

Arriving in Italy on Friday night, the German had his medical on Saturday morning and will join his new teammates for training in the afternoon as the side readies themselves to face Juventus.

Although it had been speculated that Poldi’s loan deal includes an option to buy as many do, it seems as if this is not the case.

Taking a pay-cut to help facilitate the move, Arsenal will receive €600,000 initially from the Italians. To save you reaching for a conversion tool, that’s around £470,000.

But Arsenal being Arsenal and having a habit of inserting great clauses into loan deals and sell-on’s into permanent contracts, the Gunners stand to receive a further £310,000 should Inter qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season according to Bild in Germany.

Quite what Arsenal plan to do with Podolski at the end of the season is unclear but they are perhaps banking on him putting in a decent display in Serie A after which they can command a decent transfer fee for him.
