Arsenal academy product Yunus Musah, who joined Valencia over the summer, is already getting involved in training sessions with first-team boss Marcelino.

Musah joined Valencia in a rather low-profile transfer over the summer, with neither his new club nor Arsenal even officially announcing the move.

The only confirmation from either club was in the fact that Musah wasn’t part of Arsenal’s scholarship intake announcement and he’s started actually playing matches for Valencia’s second team.

Despite the lack of noise around the transfer, it could be a significant one in the future. Musah is a very talented 16-year-old who had already made 18 appearances for Arsenal’s u18 side before leaving.

Valencia are keenly aware of his ability, and they gave the teenager the chance to train under Marcelino on Tuesday of this week. ElDesmarque suggest it’s still ‘very premature’ for the youngster to actually get a call-up for a match, but he’s still earning the head coach’s confidence.

Musah and Azeez were the two star players in Arsenal’s u16 age group last season, and the club pushed hard to keep them both.

In the end, Azeez appears to have been tempted into a new Arsenal contract of up to five years, whilst Musah evidently believed there was a clearer pathway to first-team football in Valencia, and the early evidence suggests there may well be. You can’t win them all.
