Since 2012, the CIES Football Observatory has published a weekly post analysing the top five major leagues in Europe, and this week they’ve focused on transfer values.
The scientific method from the CIES Football Observatory uses a comprehensive approach to study the data of professional footballers. In their latest weekly post, they have presented a list of 110 football players from the top five European leagues who have an estimated value €40m or more.
Top of the list is Neymar from Barcelona, followed by Tottenham’s Dele Alli and Harry Kane.
Paul Pogba from Manchester United is placed seventh with a value of €134.3m in front of Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Raheem Sterling.
Alexis Sanchez is 17th with an estimated value of €95.9m and is the only Arsenal player in the top 50 – one place above Kylian Mbappe.
Hector Bellerin is the second most valuable Arsenal player on the list with a value of €56.5m, Skhordan Mustafi 69th at €54.1m and it comes as a bit of a shock to see they are both above Mesut Ozil.
The German playmaker is just 75th with the value of €51.1m.
Granit Xhaka is the only other Arsenal player to make the list.
The Premier League is over-represented on the list with a total of 42 players.
The youngest player on the list is Kylian Mbappe (18) with an estimated value of €93m and the oldest player is Cristiano Ronaldo (32) with a value of €112.4m.
