Chelsea defender David Luiz has admitted he is wary of the threats that Arsenal pose, with this weekend’s FA Cup Final clash on the horizon.
The Blues can complete the Premier League and Cup double with a victory over their London rivals, whilst the Gunners will be looking for a positive end to a frustrating campaign under Arsene Wenger, where they failed to finish in the top-four places for the first time in two decades.
If they are victorious, it will be Chelsea’s 8th FA Cup triumph, their first since the 2011/12 campaign where they beat Liverpool 2-1.
The Blues were impressive throughout their Premier League-winning season and have been tipped as favourites to prevail once more this weekend.
However, Luiz has warned against complacency as they face a highly-motivated Arsenal side keen to put their recently struggles behind them.
“We have to concentrate to train hard every day to be in the best shape to play this final,” Luiz stated.
“I think when you play for a big club you need to have this kind of ambition to play to win every competition so we know we’ll play against a fantastic team, fantastic players in good shape.
“They have fantastic players and an amazing coach so we need to be in our high level to win this final.”
Luiz’s comments show that Chelsea players are far from complacent about their chances of winning here, but understand the importance of performing to the best of their capabilities against an unpredictable Arsenal side.
