Mauro Icardi’s wife has confirmed that the striker is leaving Inter Milan because the Serie A club can no longer afford him.
In one of the stranger transfer stories involving Arsenal at the moment, Icardi’s wife has been talking about his future and confirmed that, since Inter can no longer afford him, he will be leaving. Quite why she’s being quizzed about her husband’s future, I’m not sure, but she seems to know the deal.
“As far as I can see, Inter want to sell him,” she told Calcio Mercato.
“Many clubs are interested, we will make an evaluation together.
“Mauro would like to stay, but we understand the situation of the club, which, evidently, can’t afford to keep Icardi.”
What’s also unclear is what their motives are. Is Icardi just hoping to get a better contract or is he genuinely hoping for a move? Is this all a ploy to draw Inter out so they pay him more? Or, do they just need the money so badly that they’ll be forced to accept a bid?
Whether we’re genuinely interested or not, it always seems a bit strange when the partner is pushed out in front of the media to answer questions on their husband’s future.
We’ll have to see how this one plays out but I’m not convinced he’ll be coming to north London.
