Madueke sends message to Arsenal fans after ‘champions’ performance

Noni Madueke believes Arsenal showed a ‘champions’ spirit against Nottingham Forest, thanking the fans for their support on the night.

Arsenal’s overall performance against Nottingham Forest on Sunday evening wasn’t exactly inspiring, but the Gunners managed to grind out a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Noni Madueke.

Forest boss Oliver Glasner had highlighted Arsenal’s strength in depth prior to the game, saying: “They have so many world-class players they can react from the bench.”

So it proved, with Madueke coming off the bench to win the game. Afterwards, the winger suggested the victory showed the extra edge that winning the 2025/26 Premier League title has given the team.

“It was a tough game, a really tough game,” Madueke said. “We’re really happy. We did it all together, we showed grit, determination, and I think we showed a champions spirit here tonight.

“Maybe last year this game might not have gone as it did for us in the end (tonight), but I think we’ve got that extra belief, that extra mentality. We know we’re the champions and we know we can pull it out of the bag wherever we go.”

Arsenal indeed failed to win at the City Ground last season, drawing 0-0 in 2025/26, and also in 2024/25. So it was good to get the win this time around.

Another ground Arsenal have traditionally struggled at is Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena, with only one win at the ground, and that 2-0 victory in 2013 still resulting in elimination on the night.

After thanking the Arsenal fans for their support against Forest, Madueke suggested the team will need the same backing again on Wednesday.

“Thanks for the amazing support and safe travels home,” Madueke said. “We’ll need it in Munich for sure. We move on to another big game.”
