Piero Hincapie suffered a knock in the warm down after Arsenal’s win over Leeds United, according to a report.

Football insider Hand of Arsenal reports that Piero Hincapie suffered a knock to his ankle in the post-game warm down, following Arsenal’s victory over Leeds United.
The same source adds that Hincapie will now be monitored in the coming days, with the severity of the injury evidently not entirely clear.
Sami Mokbel of the BBC reports that Hincapie was ‘carried off…clutching [at his] right ankle’. Sam Dean reports for The Telegraph that it’s ‘too early’ to know how serious it is or isn’t.

The knock will be frustrating for Hincapie, who had only just returned to the pitch after missing the international break with a muscle injury.
The defender was also absent for the League Cup game against Ipswich Town on September 15th due to injury, and though he technically made the squad that weekend against Brighton, he was unused and clearly not fully fit.
The belief was that Hincapie had now overcome his injury issue, and that he was ready to make his comeback. But this new ankle problem may now leave him sidelined once again.

It’s positive at least that Hincapie hasn’t suffered a muscle setback, as that would have been particularly worrying given he’s already been in and out of the squad. Even so, the reliance on Riccardo Calafiori is less than ideal, with the games coming thick and fast over the next few weeks.
That starts with a Champions League match at home to Lille on Tuesday, a game which Calafiori now seems almost certain to start.
