3 back, 2 doubts, 2 out: Arsenal injury news pre-Liverpool

Arsenal could get multiple players back for Sunday’s game against Liverpool, with at least four midweek absentees pushing for their comebacks.

Simon Collings reports for The S*n that Christos Tzolis is pushing to make his injury comeback against Liverpool this weekend, and Arsenal are expecting a few other players back too.

Declan Rice and Noni Madueke both missed the midweek game against Fleetwood Town due to minor injuries, but Collings reports that both are hoping to be in the squad at Anfield.

Then Mikel Merino’s midweek absence has been revealed to be due to illness, and assuming he can recover in time, he should also be back available for Liverpool.

The only bad news seemingly involves Riccardo Calafiori, with Ryan Taylor reporting for Football.London that the left-back is a genuine doubt to face Liverpool.

Taylor writes that sources are tight-lipped on the exact location of Calafiori’s injury, but notes that the defender was holding his side following a collision during the Everton game last weekend.

Again, Taylor reports that Rice and Madueke are expected to be okay for Liverpool, unless they face any further setbacks.

The only other players to mention are Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, who will definitely be out against Liverpool. Saliba has returned to individual training, but there’s been no sign of the defender in full training so far, and it may be a while before he’s ready for matches.

Saka’s injury is expected to keep him out until December at the earliest, so Arsenal will have to make do without him for a while longer.
