Arsenal have agreed to pay an initial fee of just £1m for Igor Tyjon, but the Blackburn Rovers youth striker will have add-ons and a sell-on clause in his deal.
James McNicholas reports for The Athletic that Arsenal are close to successfully concluding the signing of Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers.
The player has already held his medical with the Gunners, who have agreed to pay an initial fee of £1m, plus bonuses and a sell-on clause.
It’s seemingly just a matter of time until Arsenal officially announce the transfer, having spent well over a year pushing to add the young striker to their academy.
On Monday, Daily Cannon covered a report from Alan Nixon claiming the deal between Arsenal and Rovers still wasn’t agreed, and that the player was set to take the club to a tribunal to determine the transfer fee.
Yet even Nixon has subsequently reported that a fee has indeed been agreed, and that the two clubs have successfully avoided a tribunal.
Nixon claims the sell-on clause is set at 25%, and that the deal was struck the day before Tyjon was due to appear at a hearing to ask for his contract to be cancelled. The same report suggests the first of Tyjon’s add-on payments will be due when he makes his senior debut.
Arsenal fans can now realistically expect to see the player wearing red and white for the club’s u21 team sooner rather than later.
Tyjon scored seven goals and assisted two in 21 appearances for the Blackburn Rovers youth teams in 2025/26, with his minutes inconsistent and limited as an apparent result of his refusal to sign professional terms with the club.
The 18-year-old also made an appearance for Rovers’ senior side in the League Cup, and he made the bench for an FA Cup match against Hull City, as well as three Championship games.
