18yo passes Arsenal medical but deal not complete

Igor Tyjon has reportedly completed a medical ahead of signing for Arsenal, though one source is disputing claims of a fee agreement.

After RoversXtra broke the news of Arsenal agreeing a fee with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Igor Tyjon last week, the same source has provided a new update that the player has now passed his medical.

According to the claims, Rovers now just need to submit the remaining paperwork, with an announcement likely this week.

Yet Alan Nixon is disputing the claim that a fee has been agreed at all, reporting that there’s no agreement and the player is taking the club to a tribunal to determine the transfer fee.

This is despite the fact that James McNicholas and Nnamdi Onyeagwara had confirmed last Friday that Arsenal had agreed a deal to sign Tyjon, with Simon Jones of the Daily Mail also reporting an agreement on a fee in the region of £3m.

As it stands, Nixon is the sole source disputing the claims, but that obviously doesn’t necessarily mean he’s wrong.

Nixon had previously claimed that Tyjon had formally asked Rovers to de-register him, and that the case was set to go before an independent panel – the Professional Football Negotiating and Consultative Committee.

Whether it’s by a fee agreement or a tribunal, Arsenal fans will hope to see the player wearing red and white for the club’s u21 team sooner rather than later.

Tyjon scored seven goals and assisted two in 21 appearances for the Blackburn Rovers youth teams in 2025/26, with his minutes inconsistent and limited as an apparent result of his refusal to sign professional terms with the club.

The 18-year-old also made an appearance for Rovers’ senior side in the League Cup, and he made the bench for an FA Cup match against Hull City, as well as three Championship games.
