Hamburger SV have decided not to activate their option to buy Fabio Vieira, and whilst the German club remain keen on the player, Arsenal are expecting interest from elsewhere.

Ryan Taylor reports for the Mirror that Hamburger SV will not be triggering their €22m option to buy Fabio Vieira from Arsenal this summer.
Vieira’s positive impact in Germany was clear, but HSV reportedly want to pay less than €10m for the signing. Whilst Arsenal are keen to sell, they’re expecting interest from elsewhere, and they won’t hold talks on his future until after the Champions League final.
“I have to be open to everything,” Vieira himself said at the weekend. “Let’s see what happens.
“I can’t say that (I’ll be staying) yet. No matter what the future brings, I was very happy here and will be forever grateful to the HSV. The club did everything for me, the support was amazing. I feel the love of the fans and the club. They all love me.”

Vieira started Hamburger SV’s final game of the Bundesliga season on Saturday, playing away to Bayer Leverkusen.
The midfielder has been in good form lately, and he underlined that with an excellent goal in the 61st minute. As a result, he ends the campaign having either scored or assisted against seven of the Bundesliga’s top-eight clubs.
The 25-year-old scored against Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, VfB Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen, and Eintracht Frankfurt, and provided assists against Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim. Freiburg were the only exception, as he could only hit the post twice in their recent match.

Vieira ends the 2025/26 season with 13 goal contributions for a bottom-half Bundesliga side, despite a very disrupted start to the campaign. His impact and consistency in the last few months has been clear and impressive, and Arsenal would be fools to let him go for under €10m (£8.7m).
If that means excluding HSV from the race to sign him, that’s just how it has to be.
