Arsenal are a serious contender to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa this summer, despite his current club successfully qualifying for Champions League football.

Alex Crook first reported for talkSPORT on Tuesday that Arsenal are ready to step up their interest in Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa, with Mikel Arteta reportedly leading the pursuit and preliminary talks already having taken place with Rogers’ camp.
Crook added that Arsenal would likely face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United, and that Rogers would be open to moving abroad amid interest from PSG. But Arteta sees signing Rogers as a signal of intent.
Lyall Thomas then reported for Sky Sports News on Wednesday morning that despite Villa qualifying for the Champions League, they’ll still listen to offers for Rogers in the region of £80m. Again, Thomas reports that Arsenal, Chelsea, and United are interested, with PSG in the background.

Ben Jacobs adds for talkSPORT that Villa are prepared to sell before the World Cup for the right offer, though Rogers is also calm about the idea of waiting until after the tournament.
Miguel Delaney reports for the Independent that PSG are pushing to sign Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid, which could aid Arsenal’s pursuit of Rogers by removing the French champions from the race.
Elsewhere, Alex Goldberg of The Football Exchange reports that Rogers is “very excited” about the idea of moving to Arsenal, which could give the Gunners an edge in the race as well.

Rogers has been linked with Arsenal for a while now, with Gary Jacob reporting for The Times that Rogers was on the Gunners’ shortlist last summer, and James McNicholas reporting for The Athletic that the club did discuss a move for Rogers before signing Eberechi Eze.
Jason Burt then reported in April that Arsenal’s pursuit remained ongoing, and these latest updates seemingly confirm as much.
Middlesbrough will be watching closely, as they’re due 20% of the profit on the £15m they sold Rogers to Villa for in 2024. As an example, a £100m deal would see Middlesbrough netting 20% of £85m, or £17m – which is more than they sold him for in the first place.
