Arsenal are interested in Mateus Fernandes of West Ham United this summer, according to a report.

Gary Jacob reports for The Times that Arsenal are interested in signing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United this summer, as the Gunners look to reshape their mdifield.
Such a move may well depend on West Ham’s future in the Premier League, with the club reportedly unwilling to sell if they stay up, but with “little choice” but to sell if they are relegated.
Jacob adds that the West Ham deal Fernandes signed last summer was a five-year contract with an option for a further year, meaning it lasts until at least 2030. Arsenal would have to offer a very significant fee to convince the Hammers to sell if they aren’t relegated.

Even if West Ham go down, Fernandes probably won’t come cheap. West Ham signed the midfielder from relegated Southampton for £38m, so they’d presumably want more than that to sell him on in similar circumstances.
Jacob also reports that Paris Saint-Germain are another club after the 21-year-old, potentially pushing the price up.
Arsenal are very unlikely to make a move right now, with the uncertainty remaining around both their own season and West Ham’s. It would be very bad timing to unsettle the player in a week that means so much to his current club.

But it seems this is one to watch come June, assuming West Ham don’t manage to pull off a great escape and relegate Spurs in their place.
Fernandes has made 36 appearances for West Ham, scoring four goals and assisting a further three from his position in midfield.
