Arsenal announce signing of Axel Donczew

Arsenal have completed the signing of Axel Donczew from Cardiff City, with the 16-year-old midfielder joining the club’s first-year scholarship intake.

The Welsh youth international arrives having already made two senior appearances for Cardiff and will continue his development at Hale End.

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of 16-year-old midfielder Axel Donczew from Cardiff City, with the teenager joining the club as part of the first-year scholarship intake.

Donczew has also agreed a pre-contract arrangement that will lead to a professional contract when he turns 17.

The Welsh midfielder has spent his entire young career at Cardiff and established himself in the club’s record books last season.

He became Cardiff’s youngest-ever player when he featured against Newport County in the EFL Trophy at the age of 15 years and 234 days.

Donczew then made a second senior appearance against AFC Wimbledon in December.

At international level, he has represented Wales at under-15 and under-16 level.

He is also eligible to play for Poland.
