Arsenal legend back helping out youth players in informal role

David Seaman is back at Arsenal in an informal capacity, and he was spotted attending the UEFA Youth League game against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman was spotted at Arsenal’s u19 game against Atletico Madrid in midweek, sitting in the stands at Meadow Park.

Seaman clearly wasn’t coaching the team on the day, given he was sitting on the opposite side of the ground to the team dugout. But Martin Lipton, Charlie Wyett, and Jordan Davies report for The S*n that he is helping the club out in an informal capacity.

The ex-Arsenal goalkeeper is reportedly a mentor available to speak to the club’s young goalkeepers, which is why he was in attendance at the game.

This is far from the first time Seaman has helped out at Arsenal behind the scenes. During Jack Wilshere’s spell as the Arsenal u18 head coach, Seaman worked on the staff for an u18 Premier League game against Reading.

The goalkeeper also made a couple of visits to London Colney during the 2021/22 season, with Per Mertesacker inviting him to the training ground so he could spend some time with Aaron Ramsdale and the club’s junior goalkeepers.

The Arsenal u19s could perhaps use the help in the UEFA Youth League at the moment, failing to keep any clean sheets in their three appearances in the competition so far.

It’s a far cry from the first team, who have avoided conceding a single goal in three Champions League fixtures. Perhaps Seaman can help to give the young goalkeepers any assistance they might need to bridge that gap.
