David Seaman was part of Jack Wilshere’s coaching staff for the Arsenal u18 win over Reading on Saturday, according to the head coach himself.
The Arsenal u18s secured a 3-0 win over Reading on Saturday, with Chido Obi-Martin providing a couple of assists and Dan Casey scoring on his debut.
But away from the pitch, there was also a familiar face on the bench, with David Seaman joining Jack Wilshere’s coaching team for the game.
“What an absolute pleasure to have this legend on the staff today,” Wilshere wrote on Instagram after the game. “Shock, we kept a clean sheet.”
This is far from the first time Seaman has been back at Arsenal to help out behind the scenes.
During the 2021/22 campaign, the goalkeeper made a couple of visits to London Colney.
Per Mertesacker invited Seaman to the club in a move reportedly initiated by Aaron Ramsdale, and the goalkeeper spent some time both with Ramsdale and with the junior keepers at the club.
Seaman presumably helped out the youth goalkeepers again this week, and Wilshere’s first-choice shot-stopper Noah Cooper made a couple of important saves to help Arsenal to a 3-0 win over Reading.
