Viktor Gyökeres is expected to officially complete his move to Arsenal today, bringing an end to one of the summer’s most drawn-out transfer stories, according to a report in A BOLA.

The Swedish international is due to sign a five-year contract worth around £7 million per season and then join up with Mikel Arteta’s squad on their pre-season tour of Asia.
The agreement with Sporting CP is understood to be worth £63.5 million up front with a further £8.5 million in performance-based add-ons.
Final paperwork between the clubs is being exchanged and only “a cataclysm”, according to A BOLA, would prevent confirmation of the deal before the end of the day.

Gyökeres scored 97 goals in 102 games since joining Sporting from Coventry City in 2023 for £17 million, plus £3.4 million in bonuses. His prolific form quickly made him one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers and a priority signing for Arsenal as they look to build on three consecutive second-place finishes and mount a serious Premier League title challenge.
The deal was accelerated after Gyökeres’s representative, Hasan Cetinkaya, waived a 10 per cent commission – worth around £7 million – smoothing negotiations over solidarity payments and instalment schedules.

Arsenal have already spent heavily this summer, landing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, Noni Madueke and Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, and Christian Nørgaard from Brentford, taking total spending beyond £200 million before the Gyökeres deal and the expected signing of defender Cristhian Mosquera.
Gyökeres, who refused to report for Sporting training on 14 July amid his push for a move, is expected to travel directly to Singapore for his medical before joining the touring squad.
The Swedish striker’s addition gives Arteta the out-and-out centre-forward he has long sought, underlining the scale of Arsenal’s ambition to finally reclaim the Premier League crown.
