Former Nigerian international Sam Elijah has urged Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to consider a move to Arsenal following a reported breakdown in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Transfer talks between PSG and Napoli have reportedly stalled due to disagreements over the inclusion of South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in in the deal and PSG’s reluctance to meet Osimhen‘s €120-130 million release clause.

Elijah, in an interview with allnigeriasoccer.com, advised Osimhen to seek a new challenge after four seasons with Napoli: “Presently, nothing has been finalised but in football, anything can still happen. I think Osimhen should move ahead from Napoli because of the previous challenges he has with the club.”

Elijah specifically recommended Arsenal as an ideal destination for the Nigerian striker, highlighting the club’s positive environment and the coaching style of Mikel Arteta: “I think it is time for him to move forward. I would prefer him to move to Arsenal. It will be so comfortable for him there – the environment, the players, the fans, and most especially the coach. Arteta is a patient man who knows how to tailor his side to victory. For me, he should move to Arsenal to continue his career there.”

Osimhen‘s desire to leave Napoli is evident, with reports suggesting he is even willing to go on strike to force a move. Despite significant interest from top clubs, the high release clause in his contract has proven to be a major obstacle.

While PSG initially seemed to be leading the race for Osimhen, their unwillingness to meet the release clause has created an opportunity for Arsenal to swoop in. The Gunners, who have been heavily linked with Osimhen in the recent past, could now reignite their interest in the prolific striker, although they, too, have a problem with the fee being demanded.

Osimhen‘s impressive record of 17 goals and four assists in 32 games last season, despite injury setbacks and international commitments, highlights his potential impact at a top club like Arsenal. His pace, power, and clinical finishing would undoubtedly strengthen the Gunners’ attacking options.
