Victor Osimhen is willing to stop training with Napoli to try and push through a transfer this summer, according to a report.
L’Equipe report that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen wants to leave the club this summer, and he’s willing to refuse to train to try and push through a move.
Despite previous links to Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain are currently leading the race for Osimhen, but they’re unwilling to pay his €130m release clause.
Thus a deal may only be possible if Napoli lower their demands, and Osimhen is evidently willing to try and push them to do so. Whether it will work or not is another matter.
L’Equipe recently reported that PSG were set to relaunch their attempt to sign Osimhen in the coming days, despite previous claims that they’d given up on a deal.
David Ornstein initially reported in February that Osimhen featured prominently on their list of potential replacements for Kylian Mbappe.
The French media then suggested in June that PSG’s interest had cooled, but evidently it’s hotting up again.
Napoli boss Antonio Conte previously suggested that the club and Osimhen have an “agreement” or “pact” on his future, hinting that it was out of his control.
Reports in June suggested Arsenal weren’t planning a bid, and despite plenty of links in the Italian media, the English media has never really picked up the story.
Osimhen scored 17 goals and assisted four in 32 games this season amid a couple of injury setbacks and his month-long run to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
