Paris Saint-Germain are eyeing Victor Osimhen as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, providing serious competition for Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported earlier this week that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen features prominently on PSG’s list of candidates to replace Kylian Mbappe this summer.

PSG have been preparing for a possible exit for Mbappe since the summer, and they stepped up various discussions in January to be ready for the player’s potential departure.

With Ornstein reporting that Mbappe has now informed PSG of his intention to leave as a free agent in the upcoming window, the club are weighing up a transfer approach for Osimhen.

Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli in the summer, and there’s interest from Chelsea in the striker.

But Romano claims Arsenal are also in the mix, with the Gunners looking to move for a top striker in the upcoming window and considering different options at the moment.

Speaking to the media recently, Osimhen claimed he’d already made up his mind over his next steps as a player.

“At the end of the season, I’ve already made up my mind, I already know what I want to do with my career,” Osimhen said.

“Since I started, I’ve been the one taking my own decisions and everything is working out well for me.

“I already know the next step that I want to take, so for now, I just want to finish the season strong.

“[Then] go and relax somewhere with my daughter, think about my life, and then finally come out with the decision I’ve already made.”

Osimhen signed a contract extension with Napoli in December, but the striker recently admitted he’s open to a Premier League move.

Speaking to the media in January, Osimhen answered a question about whether he wants to play in the English top tier.

“Of course one day, definitely,” the centre-forward responded. “But for now, I have other plans in my career that I am looking forward to.

“So when the time comes, everyone knows.”
