John Cross reports for the Mirror that Arsenal have now made a fresh contract offer to Chido Martin Obi, as they look to prevent him leaving on the expiry of his current contract this summer.

Arsenal’s offer includes a professional contract, though Martin Obi couldn’t sign that part until his 17th birthday in November. Until then, the Gunners would hope to sign him to a scholarship contract, which he’ll be eligible to sign on July 1st.

Cross adds that a number of clubs are circling for Martin Obi, and there’s also an international battle for his future between Denmark and England.

The striker was recently away at the u17 Euros with Denmark, but England are still hoping to convince him to play for them instead. Martin Obi previously represented England at u16 level.

Fabrizio Romano reported last month that Arsenal were in negotiations with Martin Obi’s new agents Elite Project Group over a new contract for the youngster.

The player himself has been focusing on his football, following up his club-record-breaking season with the Arsenal u18s by scoring two goals and one penalty-shootout goal in four games at the u17 European Championships.

Unfortunately, Martin Obi and Denmark went out to Italy in the u17 Euro semi-finals last Sunday, losing 1-0.

Martin Obi finished as the u18 Premier League’s top scorer in 2023/24 with 32 goals, 11 ahead of his nearest competitor.

That was a club record for most goals in an u18 Premier League season, and only three Arsenal players have ever scored more in a single youth league campaign.
