Arsenal have received two more provisional call-ups for Euro 2024, but Jurrien Timber won’t be involved at the tournament this summer.
Following the news of Kai Havertz’s provisional call-up by Germany for Euro 2024, Arsenal received two further call-ups for members of their squad on Thursday.
France named William Saliba in their squad, joining Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Clauss, Ibrahima Konate, Benjamin Pavard, Theo Hernandez, Ferland Mendy, and Jules Kounde on Didier Deschamps’ list of defenders.
Meanwhile, Ukraine confirmed that Oleksandr Zinchenko is on their preliminary squad list for the tournament.
But when the Netherlands announced their provisional squad on Thursday night, Jurrien Timber wasn’t involved. Having spent the entire season out injured, that’s not entirely surprising.
The Arsenal defender will still have a personal stake in the tournament, with his twin brother Quinten Timber called up.
Euro 2024 will take place between June 14th and July 14th, with the group stage concluding on June 23rd-26th (depending on the group), and there are also pre-tournament friendlies to consider.
As a result, any player called up will be on international duty from the end of the club season until at least June 23rd, if not all the way to July 14th.
Though the current squad announcements are only preliminary, you’d expect anyone involved now to be in the final squad on June 6th unless they suffer an injury.
Arsenal Euro 2024 potential call-ups
Group A
- Germany
- Scotland
- Hungary
- Switzerland
Kai Havertz has been called up by Germany, whilst on-loan Kieran Tierney will have ended his spell with Real Sociedad and will almost certainly start for Scotland.
Group B
- Spain
- Croatia
- Italy
- Albania
David Raya should receive a Spain call-up, though he’s unlikely to play ahead of Unai Simon. Jorginho should be involved and starting for Italy.
Group C
- Slovenia
- Denmark
- Serbia
- England
Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice should all be with England at the tournament, with Saka and Rice likely starters.
Eddie Nketiah, Ben White, Emile Smith Rowe, and Reiss Nelson are all eligible, but it would be a surprise to see any of them involved, even with the expanded squads.
Arsenal loan striker Mika Biereth is technically eligible for Denmark and in excellent form, but he’s yet to make his senior international debut and this is an unlikely time for him to get it.
Group D
- Netherlands
- France
- Poland
- Austria
William Saliba has been called up by France, and Jakub Kiwior will hope to be involved with Poland. Jurrien Timber has been left out by the Netherlands, still yet to return to first-team football after his ACL injury.
Group E
- Ukraine
- Slovakia
- Belgium
- Romania
Oleksandr Zinchenko has been called up by Ukraine, and Leandro Trossard is likely to start for Belgium.
Albert Sambi Lokonga is also eligible for Belgium, but his recent injuries and the fact he hasn’t been involved with the national team for a while make it unlikely he’ll get a call-up.
Group F
- Portugal
- Czech Republic
- Georgia
- Turkey
Arsenal technically have three players eligible for Portugal: Cedric Soares, Nuno Tavares, and Fabio Vieira.
It seems unlikely any of them will be involved, with Cedric barely playing and both Tavares and Vieira dealing with recent injuries.
