Wolverhampton Wanderers want £60m for Arsenal-linked Pedro Neto this summer, with nothing imminent on the transfer front just yet.

John Percy reports for The Telegraph that Wolves manager Gary O’Neil needs funds to reshape his squad this summer, but the club will only sell Pedro Neto for a club record £60m.

Arsenal have been linked with Neto in the past, and Manchester City and Newcastle United have been reported as interested suitors more recently, and it seems Wolves plan to try and spark a bidding war.

Fabrizio Romano adds that nothing is close or imminent for Neto at this stage. None of the interested clubs have started concrete talks for the player’s signing just yet.

Earlier this year, Neto’s valuation was reported to be in the region of £80m. That then dropped to “upward of £60m”, and the latest reports now suggest £60m may be enough.

The winger’s injuries are behind the falling valuation, with Neto ruled out in October and March with serious hamstring injuries.

In all, Neto missed 17 of Wolves’ 38 Premier League games in 2023/24 through injury, having also had a four-month ankle injury in 2022/23, and an ACL injury in 2020/21.

When fit, the winger managed three goals and 11 assists in 24 appearances for Wolves this season, a goal or assist every 124 minutes.

That’s not a bad record, but it’s unlikely to be worth a £60m risk for Arsenal. Competing with Manchester City for the Premier League title means the Gunners have to be very careful with how they spend their money this summer.
