Marc Guehi has a concrete chance to leave Crystal Palace this summer, but it’s reportedly too early to know if Arsenal will be after him.
Following the rumours surrounding Marc Guehi’s future earlier this week, Fabrizio Romano has weighed in with an update in his Daily Briefing.
Romano reports that Guehi does have a concrete chance to leave Crystal Palace this summer, but it’s too early to confirm whether Arsenal will be in the race, with several clubs showing an interest and nothing formalised yet.
The Times had previously claimed that Palace were worried that Guehi is likely to leave this summer, with only two years on his contract with the Premier League club.
According to The Times’ report, Manchester United and Arsenal have both scouted Guehi, with the Gunners seemingly likely to be in the market for a centre-back this summer.
Guehi is expected to be valued at more than £55m this summer, which would make him Palace’s record sale.
Football journalist Alan Nixon had reported earlier in the season that Arsenal had joined the race for Guehi, with the player part of Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans.
At the time, the Gunners knew that Guehi wouldn’t be available in the January transfer window, but they were reportedly willing to wait until the end of the season.
Even before that, the Daily Mail had reported over the summer that Guehi was among Arsenal’s key targets if they’d received a ridiculous bid for Gabriel Magalhaes from interested clubs in Saudi Arabia.
But at this point in 2024, Fabrizio Romano seems to be suggesting that Arsenal’s interest hasn’t turned into a serious move for the player.
