Arsenal are in the race for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, though they’ll likely need to wait until the end of the season to make a move.

Journalist Alan Nixon reports that Arsenal have joined the race for Marc Guehi, who is a part of Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans.

The Gunners know Guehi won’t be available now or in the January transfer window, but they’re reportedly willing to wait until the end of the season.

But there are complications in the form of potential rival bids. Both Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly interested in Guehi, and Guehi’s former club Chelsea have a deal to match any bid.

If Arsenal are to sign Guehi from Palace, they’d need to win another bidding war against their big-six rivals.

It’s not impossible to do, as we saw with Declan Rice joining over the summer, but Arsenal have also been on the other side of those deals in recent windows.

Players like Mykhaylo Mudryk and Lisandro Martinez ended up joining Chelsea and Manchester United instead of Arsenal because the Gunners wouldn’t pay the amount their rivals were offering.

The Daily Mail reported over the summer that Guehi was among Arsenal’s key targets if they’d received a ridiculous bid for Gabriel Magalhaes from interested clubs in Saudi Arabia.

That didn’t happen in the end, but Guehi was clearly the player being looked at if Arsenal suddenly found themselves with the funds and the need to make a move.
