There are indications that all parties may be open to a transfer for Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe this summer, according to David Ornstein.

In an appearance late last week, David Ornstein told The Athletic FC Podcast that there are major questions about the future of Emile Smith Rowe.

From an Financial Fair Play (FFP) or Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) perspective, Smith Rowe’s departure would represent pure profit, so it would give Arsenal some flexibility with their other summer business.

Ornstein suggests that the trajectory of Smith Rowe’s situation since signing a new contract indicates that all parties may be open to a move this summer, adding that there will definitely be interest in the midfielder.

Fabrizio Romano reported in March that Arsenal and Smith Rowe won’t make a decision on a potential transfer until after the final months of the season have been played.

West Ham United had Smith Rowe on their January shortlist, but the player wanted to stay at Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta wanted to keep him.

For the time being, there’s been no new decision to part ways, but there’s no clarity on what will happen to the midfielder this summer.

Yet Smith Rowe’s minutes tell their own story, with the 23-year-old playing just 453 minutes in all competitions this season, the equivalent of five full 90s.

Though he had an encouraging start in the win over Luton Town earlier this month, it hasn’t led to much since then. With only five games remaining this season, there’s not a lot of time for things to turn around.
