Marcus Thuram has given special thanks to former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry after winning Serie A with Inter Milan on Monday night.
Inter Milan made history on Monday, winning Serie A in their derby match against AC Milan for the first time ever.
The 2-1 scoreline clinched the title at the San Siro, with Inter the ‘away’ side at the ground on the night.
Winning the title in front of their biggest rivals at their home ground with the stadium packed with Milan fans certainly made for an unforgettable night.
Marcus Thuram scored Inter’s second goal on the night, the goal which ultimately won his team the match and the title. Speaking afterwards, he thanked Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
“Today, really I’d like to thank my parents, and I’d like to thank Thierry Henry!” Thuram said. “Maybe he’s going to see this.
“[I’d like to thank him] for all the advice he gave me, and I hope this is only the start.
“He’s like my best uncle, he’s the uncle that’s here for me, to help me in good moments and bad moments. He always tells me the truth, and today I’d like to take the time to thank him, because if I’m here, it’s because of him too.”
26-year-old Thuram has scored 14 goals and assisted a further 12 in his 42 appearances this season, with 23 of his goal contributions coming in his 31 Serie A appearances.
Inter have certainly benefitted from the French forward’s efforts on a number of occasions, and it seems Henry has had a part in mentoring the centre-forward.
It would be nice if Henry could now give a few tips to Arsenal’s forwards to help them over the line in the Premier League title race as well!
