Ben White has insisted he doesn’t want to be anywhere but Arsenal right now, as contract talks continue over his long-term future.
Ben White is in contract talks with Arsenal at the moment, and the defender gave an encouraging update on his future when speaking to Sky Sports earlier this week.
“Yeah, definitely,” White responded when asked if his future was at Arsenal. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
“I’m very settled and all my family are here. It’s an amazing place to live and obviously playing for Arsenal tops it off.”
The Telegraph reported in mid-February that Arsenal are keen to tie White down to a new long-term contract, and after months of discussions, talks are finally now at an advanced stage.
According to that report, it’s now expected that the Gunners will reach an agreement with the defender for a new deal.
Fabrizio Romano then wrote in his Daily Briefing that whilst White’s new deal isn’t done yet, it is indeed advanced.
Talks have reportedly been ongoing since October, and they’re going well. A positive conclusion is expected in the coming weeks or months.
Technical director Edu Gaspar is reportedly leading the approach to White over a new deal, with the club keen to reward his form and have him join the group of players who have already committed their long-term future.
White already has a deal until 2026, but the club are being proactive in negotiations.
As it stands, White earns around £120,000 a week, but he’d receive a significant increase with his new deal.
White has proven a key player for Mikel Arteta since signing from Brighton and Hove Albion, playing 119 times for the Gunners.
The defender has made 36 appearances (31 starts) for Arsenal this season.
