Arsenal are in advanced talks with Ben White over a new contract, making progress towards a conclusion after months of negotiations.
The Telegraph report that Arsenal are keen to tie Ben White down to a new long-term contract, and after months of discussions, talks are finally now at an advanced stage.
It’s now expected that the Gunners will reach an agreement with the defender for a new deal.
Back in December, Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal and White remained in contact over a new contract, with the conversations reportedly going well.
But whilst there was no concern at Arsenal over the state of negotiations, those talks hadn’t reached a conclusion.
That’s still the case as it stands, but negotiations are clearly moving in the right direction.
Technical director Edu Gaspar is reportedly leading the approach to White over a new deal, with the club keen to reward his form and have him join the group of players who have already committed their long-term future.
White already has a deal until 2026, but the club are being proactive in negotiations, which have now been ongoing since August.
As it stands, White earns around £120,000 a week, but he’d receive a significant increase with his new deal.
White has proven a key player for Mikel Arteta since signing from Brighton and Hove Albion, playing 116 times for the Gunners.
The defender has made 33 appearances (28 starts) for Arsenal this season already, despite some injury issues.
