Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is in the sights of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal this summer, according to a report from Italy.
Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport report that Victor Osimhen will be the subject of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal’s desires this summer, among others.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis previously confirmed reports that the striker has a release clause, and that he’s wanted by a number of top clubs including Arsenal.
“Some players stay for many years, others are wanted by PSG, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea…” De Laurentiis said.
“It’s difficult to keep players when they are wanted by rich clubs.
“I can confirm there’s a release clause, a very high one.”
Arsenal and Chelsea have long been linked with a move for Osimhen, but the story took a turn earlier this month with the news of Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the striker as a possible replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
David Ornstein reported that Osimhen features prominently on PSG’s list of candidates to replace Mbappe this summer, with the club already stepping up various discussions in January to be ready for the player’s potential departure.
Mbappe has now informed PSG of his intention to leave, pushing the club into the market.
Ben Jacobs then claimed that Osimhen’s priority is the Premier League, and that Arsenal would be happy to pay Osimhen’s wage demands.
Speaking to the media recently, Osimhen claimed he’d already made up his mind over his next steps as a player.
“I already know the next step that I want to take, so for now, I just want to finish the season strong,” Osimhen said.
“[Then] go and relax somewhere with my daughter, think about my life, and then finally come out with the decision I’ve already made.”
Before that, Osimhen also answered a question about whether he wants to play in the Premier League.
“Of course, one day, definitely,” the centre-forward responded. “But for now, I have other plans in my career that I am looking forward to.”
