Arsenal youngster Chido Obi-Martin is one of the most exciting talents in the current u18 side, with 10 goal contributions in 10 u18 Premier League fixtures this season as a 16-year-old.

The Denmark youth international has also been excelling for his country, scoring eight goals in 12 games for the Denmark u17s.

Obi-Martin has reportedly already agreed a scholarship deal with Arsenal ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, but that deal won’t become active until the start of next season.

The youngster will then be eligible for a professional contract when he turns 17 in November.

Amid the complexities of his contract situation, Obi-Martin has made it clear his feelings on his future are a lot more straightforward.

“I would like to stay at Arsenal for a long time,” Obi-Martin told Bold.dk. “It’s a good club, I can feel that I’m getting much better in training.

“There are a lot of good people and good coaches, so I’m really happy to be there.

“Maybe I will have to play permanently at u21 level from next season. There aren’t that many strikers in the squad so it will be a good opportunity for me.

“Arsenal is a club that gives young talents the opportunity to play.”

Scholarship deals generally last for two years, so if Obi-Martin’s deal starts this summer, then he should be under contract until 2026.

His first professional deal would be capped at two full seasons, plus the remainder of the ongoing campaign, so if he signed one in November, it would last until 2027.

Then, once Obi-Martin turned 18, he could sign a longer-term contract.

Borussia Dortmund are supposedly keeping tabs on the youngster, but for now, his future is committed to his current club.
