Fabrizio Romano reports in his Daily Briefing that there is no indication that Mikel Arteta is thinking about leaving Arsenal in the summer.

The Gunners boss is reportedly very happy where he is, and his full focus is on his current club. He’s not even considering any other potential job at the moment.

From Barcelona’s perspective, the club are aware of Arteta’s situation, but they haven’t made any concrete moves to contact the manager.

Arteta is appreciated by many clubs around the world, but that doesn’t seem to matter at the moment, given his personal stance on a move.

The links between Arteta and Barcelona first gathered pace in January, when Spanish outlet Sport reported that he was considering terminating his Arsenal deal at the end of the season.

In light of Xavi’s announcement that he’ll leave the La Liga side at the end of the campaign, the report hinted Arteta could be the man to take over.

But Sky Sports quickly reported that Arteta is going nowhere, with no plans to leave Arsenal at the end of the season, with the Evening Standard confirming that the manager had no plans to walk away.

Arteta then shot down the reports himself, saying: “That’s totally fake news.

“I don’t know where it is coming from, it’s totally untrue and I’m very upset about it.

“I could not believe it. It has no sources. You have to be cautious when you write things in the way it was yesterday.”

Arsenal are top of the Premier League and in the last-16 of the Champions League, and Arteta has plenty on his plate without worrying about fabricated Barcelona links.
