TheSecretScout reports that Arsenal have made an offer for Wolves 16-year-old Brayden Clarke, a Wales u17 international centre-back.

Clarke has already said his goodbyes at Wolves, posting on Instagram to confirm his departure with five Premier League clubs interested in his signature. But Arsenal are now most likely to be his next club.

Clarke made nine appearances for the Wolves u18s in the first half of the season, but it became clear he was on the way out when he went on trial to Newcastle United, starting and providing an assist in a game against Sunderland u18s.

Clarke then went away with the Wales u17s last month, most recently captaining the side to a 4-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina in his last appearance.

Now, it seems Newcastle are set to miss out on the defender to Arsenal, and it makes sense that the Gunners are looking to recruit at the back.

This weekend, reports have broken that Arsenal are releasing centre-backs Luis Brown and Coby Small from their u18 side, with neither set to be offered a professional contract before the end of the season.

That opens up a spot at the back for someone like Clarke to step in.

Clarke is the son of former Premier League midfielder Nigel Quashie, not that their surnames would give that away. The teenager uses his mother Kerry’s last name.
