Arsenal are looking at signing a defender this summer, though their targets haven’t yet been finalised.

Fabrizio Romano reports in his Daily Briefing that Arsenal are looking at defenders for a potential summer signing.

Romano adds that despite some media links to Matthijs de Ligt lately, the Gunners’ preferred targets haven’t yet been decided upon.

De Ligt’s situation is reportedly one to watch in more general terms, as he’s not happy with his situation at Bayern Munich. But the current links to the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal are premature.

Arsenal were linked with de Ligt in the January transfer window, but the reports always suggested a summer move was more likely, with Bayern unlikely to sell mid-season.

Rumours about the 24-year-old’s future have only grown since then, with Thomas Tuchel choosing to leave him on the bench against Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend.

That decision didn’t pay dividends for the manager, with his side losing 3-0, and de Ligt is seemingly unhappy not to have had the chance to help the team on the pitch.

There’s plenty of time still left until the summer transfer window opens, and Arsenal will probably see plenty of links to a number of players between now and then.

The Gunners are also reportedly interested in making signings at centre-forward, midfield, and on the wings, so it sounds like it could be another busy summer for Edu Gaspar’s transfer team.
