Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are looking to make signings in at least three key positions this summer, according to a report.

John Cross reports for the Mirror that Arsenal would like to make signings in three positions this summer – centre-forward, midfield, and on the wings.

Cross writes that Arsenal have a couple of wingers on their summer shortlist as they look to strengthen their squad, with the club keen to sign a backup for Bukayo Saka to ease the pressure on the young England international.

The Gunners are targeting signings that can raise the level of the squad, rather than simply adding backups.

As well as a winger, Cross claims Arsenal would like a striker and a midfielder. The addition of a centre-forward could reportedly lead to Gabriel Jesus moving out to the left.

It seems Arsenal are set for another busy summer, and the lack of incomings in the January transfer window should set them up well for some investment.

Of course, how much Arsenal can spend will be dictated by how the remainder of the season goes.

A deep run in the Champions League would bring in plenty of money, as would finishing in the top four and qualifying for next season’s competition.

Arsenal have already failed to make it to the latter stages of the domestic cups, but they could easily make up for that with a few Champions League knockout wins and a strong league finish.

Then it will be about how much the Gunners can add to their budget with sales.
