Arsenal’s Alex Kirk had one of the best moments of his loan spell at Bromley so far on Saturday, assisting a late winner against National League leaders Chesterfield.

Thanks to injury, Kirk took a while to break into Bromley’s starting lineup on loan, and you can read more about his loan spell as a whole here. But he’s very much in the team now.

The centre-back has made nine consecutive league appearances for Bromley, playing the full 90 minutes of every game. But it’ll be hard to pick out anything from his previous eight appearances to match the end of this weekend’s fixture against Chestefield.

For anyone not following the National League, Chesterfield are the runaway leaders of the division.

Before their game against Bromley, who currently sit second in the league, Chesterfield had a 23-point lead on their opponents. Automatic promotion is not even a contest.

But Bromley still harbour promotion hopes of their own, albeit likely to be through the play-offs, so they had plenty of motivation when the two teams met this weekend.

In a back-and-forth contest, Will Grigg gave Chesterfield the lead, before Michael Cheek scored a brace to help hosts Bromley to reclaim the advantage.

Ollie Banks and Tom Naylor scored in a five-minute spell to put Chesterfield back in the lead, before Cheek completed his hat-trick for 3-3.

Just when it looked like the drama might be over, Arsenal’s Kirk popped up in the 94th minute to put a dangerous cross into the penalty area.

Sam Woods only had to poke home the winning goal to send the home fans wild.
