Arsenal’s Alex Kirk is impressing on loan with Bromley FC, following a disrupted start to the spell due to injury.
A glance at Alex Kirk’s loan spell with Bromley FC would suggest it hasn’t been a hugely productive one so far, with the centre-back only making six league appearances.
But those following the club more closely are impressed with the defender.
“Alex had to wait a long time to get into the team due to the form of the defenders in front of him,” Bromley journalist Machel St Patrick Hewitt explains to Daily Cannon.
“When he got in the team, he got injured after two great performances.
“[He] was out for going on two months – got back in the team after his return and has been ever present since and very good.”
“[Bromley] use him as a ball carrying right-sided centre-back in a back three,” the journalist continued.
“I dont know if Alex was that comfortable on the ball in previous loans, but we are now very used to him marauding down the pitch and carrying the ball into the attacking third.”
Kirk has now started all of Bromley’s last six games, including two league wins, three draws, and one FA Trophy win on penalties.
The National League side sit second in the table behind Chesterfield, as they make their promotion push.
Though Bromley are 11 points behind the leaders, they’re in with a good shot at the play-offs at least.
It’s always good to see a loan club sticking with a player through an injury, and putting faith in them on their return. Even if they likely won’t be around for long.
It seems Bromley’s support for Kirk is now being rewarded by his recent performances.
