Arsenal aren’t actively looking to sell Eddie Nketiah this month, and they’ve put a £40m valuation on the striker for any interested clubs.
Sami Mokbel reports for the Daily Mail that it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Eddie Nketiah remaining with Arsenal beyond the conclusion of the January transfer window, with the Gunners not looking to sell him as things stand.
Both Crystal Palace and West Ham United are interested in the striker, but they’ve been told he isn’t available.
Arsenal may change that stance if they receive a bid “too good to turn down”, but Mokbel puts that in the region of £40m.
With Nketiah having signed a five-year deal in 2022, he still has plenty of time to run on his contract, so it won’t be difficult to hold onto him.
£40m might seem like quite a lot for a backup striker, but Gabriel Jesus’ fitness issues over the last 12 months or so make it appear a lot more reasonable.
Nketiah has ended up as Mikel Arteta’s starting striker on a number of occasions in the last year, and it could happen again before the season is out.
David Ornstein reported for The Athletic earlier this month that Crystal Palace have a firm interest in Nketiah, but the Gunners haven’t yet shown any willingness to let the striker go.
Ornstein adds that if Arsenal’s stance changes, he expects Palace to push hard for the signing.
Fabrizio Romano then wrote that there’s interest in Nketiah from five or six Premier League clubs, as well as some Bundesliga clubs.
