Jakub Kiwior isn’t set to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window, according to his agent.
Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has struggled to break into Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup so far this season, what with the strength of the Gabriel Magalhaes–William Saliba pairing in the centre of defence.
Kiwior has had more luck playing at left-back in the injury absences of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu, but both players are fit again now – albeit with Tomiyasu currently away at the Asian Cup.
As a result, it hasn’t been surprising to see transfer links between Kiwior and various Serie A sides in recent weeks.
But reports suggest Arsenal have shown no willingness to let Kiwior go, and his agent, Paweł Ziemończyk, has told Polish television he doesn’t expect a January move.
“Kuba (Jakub Kiwior) is an Arsenal player,” Zimończyk said in quotes reported by Przeglad Sportowy.
“There are no signals that they want to get rid of him, and I don’t think anything will happen in the winter window.”
James Benge reported for CBS Sports at the end of December that sources had claimed it was extremely unlikely Arsenal would seriously consider interest from AC Milan in the signing of Kiwior in January.
The Evening Standard had also written that Arsenal were expected to rebuff approaches for Kiwior in January, with no plans to let the defender go in the winter window.
The players agent has now seemingly confirmed those reports, so it doesn’t seem we’re set for any transfer movement before the deadline next week.
