Galatasaray are hoping to complete a move for Cedric Soares before the Super Lig deadline next week, according to a report.
Chris Wheatley reports for LondonWorld that Galatasaray are hopeful of completing a permanent deal for Arsenal defender Cedric Soares in the coming days.
Cedric is expected to command a “minimal fee” due to his expiring contract, but talks are ongoing and a deal could be done before the Super Lig deadline on February 9th.
Wheatley reports that Galatasaray are just one of the Turkish clubs interested in Cedric, but they appear to be the frontrunner at the moment.
Over the weekend, Bayern Munich announced the signing of Sacha Boey from Galatasaray, likely ramping up their interest in signing Cedric.
A number of sources in the English media reported last week that Galatasaray were interested in Cedric as a potential replacement for Boey.
Various sources report that Besiktas are ready to rival Galatasaray in the race, and James Olley of ESPN had previously reported that Villarreal were in the mix for as well, plus another Turkish club in Trabzonspor.
Cedric is reportedly open to a deal, and Football.London have claimed that the right-back’s departure wouldn’t necessarily lead to an Arsenal move for a replacement.
That makes a transfer all the more likely, as Galatasaray aren’t waiting on Arsenal to do a deal for someone else. The move can go through – or not – on its own merits.
