Arsenal are reportedly showing interest in young talent Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, the 18-year-old midfielder currently playing for Angers SCO in Ligue 2.

Bahoya, who joined Angers on January 1, 2023, has made a considerable impact, despite primarily being used as a substitute.

Bahoya’s performances have been notable, with five goals and two assists in 19 league appearances this season. This hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Gunners, who are always on the lookout for promising players, particularly in France – a region they have historically scouted heavily.

L’Equipe reports that Arsenal are among several clubs, including AC Milan, Eintracht Frankfurt, and VfB Stuttgart, monitoring Bahoya’s progress.

AC Milan’s interest dates back two years, highlighting the sustained attention Bahoya has garnered. An unnamed Ligue 1 club is also in the mix.

As of the time of writing, Angers haven’t received any concrete offers for Bahoya, whose contract runs until June 30, 2026, following an extension on December 4, 2023.

However, recent developments suggest some clubs have made advances in the last few days, and a move in the upcoming January transfer window has not been ruled out.

Bahoya, born on May 7, 2005, in Montfermeil, France, holds dual citizenship with France and Cameroon.

Standing at 180cm, he primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but is also able to play on the left midfield and as a left winger.

His current market value stands at €2.50 million, which is also his highest to date, as of December 13, 2023.

Represented by Concept Sport Agency and already sponsored by Adidas, Bahoya’s versatility and potential make him an attractive prospect for Arsenal, who are keen to strengthen their midfield options.

His ability to impact games from the bench is particularly appealing, indicating a player with the adaptability and skill to thrive in the Premier League.
