Sky Sports reporter Philipp Hinze claims RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has a release clause in his contract with the Bundesliga club, which will be valid from this summer.

The €50m (£42.95m) clause was reportedly included in Sesko’s deal as a compromise last summer, to get his move from RB Salzburg over the line.

Arsenal have been linked with Sesko since November, when the Mirror reported that the Gunners had sent scouts to watch him playing in the Bundesliga ahead of a potential move.

Other reports from November suggested Arsenal were showing significant interest in the player, and had already initiated contact with his representatives.

The Athletic then reported that Sesko was among the names on Arsenal’s striker shortlist for 2024.

Sesko has a contract until 2028, which seemingly made a deal difficult. But this release clause offers Arsenal a way to make the deal happen at a fixed price, if they think he’s worth it.
