AC Milan are reportedly eyeing Nicolas Pepe, currently playing for Trabzonspor in the Super League.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan see the Ivory Coast international as a potential addition to their squad.

Milan, keen on strengthening their team, might make a move for Pepe in January, with a possible follow-up attempt at the season’s end if the initial efforts don’t materialise.

Pepe, who has a contract with Trabzonspor until June 30, 2024, has scored two goals and made one assist in seven matches this season after injury derailed the start of his time there.

Trabzonspor disclosed that they paid Pepe €1,750,000 and an additional €1,600,000 as a signing bonus for the 2023-2024 season. They paid Arsenal nothing for him after the club cancelled his contract.

Pepe, however, will be absent for upcoming matches due to his participation in the African Nations Cup with the Ivory Coast National Team. This absence could extend to nine games if Ivory Coast reach the final.

Nicolas Pepe‘s stint at Arsenal ended last summer after being released on a free transfer. He had joined Arsenal for a staggering £72 million, making 112 appearances, scoring 27 goals, and providing 21 assists.

Pepe reflected on his journey, stating, “When I received the first offer from Trabzonspor, their personal approach impressed me. They showed me a lot of love and attention, influencing my decision.”

Talking about his injury challenges, he said, “The last part of the season in Nice was really complicated due to my injury. I’m working to fix this, and I know things will get better.

“Injury is challenging both physically and mentally. Many think of giving up, but I never give up the fight.”

Pepe also commented on his relationship with former Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta. “He’s an extraordinary kid. It’s not his fault about the money paid back then. When things don’t work, you have to move on.”

Comparing leagues, he added, “England is the best league in the world. Every team you face is strong and difficult to beat.”

Pepe concluded with advice for young footballers, emphasising resilience and mental strength as keys to success in football.
