The Arsenal u21s were set to play away to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League 2 on Friday night, but the Baggies report on their website that the match has now been postponed.

The club explain in a statement that the match at Hednesford Town’s Keys Park had to be postponed due to a frozen pitch.

They add that a new date and kick-off time will be communicated to supporters at “the earliest possible opportunity”.

Arsenal are performing well in the Premier League 2 so far this season, sitting third in the table after eight games.

The new expanded format of the competition means all 26 teams are competing in one league table, so the standings are congested and Arsenal are one of four teams sitting on 17 points.

But the young Gunners can only focus on themselves and continuing to pick up results, and from that point of view they’ll be frustrated to be made to wait for the next game after this postponement.

This isn’t the only recent match postponement for an Arsenal academy side, with the u18s also having a game postponed after the team failed to arrive at the correct location on time.

The youngsters will have to try and keep momentum going in training ahead of their knockout match away to Peterborough United on Tuesday, December 5th at 19:30 GMT.
