Despite Arsenal’s interest, Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Moscardo is poised to join Paris Saint-Germain from Corinthians, and Liverpool enter the fray for Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio, intensifying competition with Arsenal and others.

Brazilian youngster Gabriel Moscardo, previously linked with Arsenal and Chelsea, is set to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old midfielder from Corinthians, known for his defensive skills, has been a significant figure in the Brasileirao Series A 2023 and Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2023.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG have reached an agreement with Corinthians for Moscardo’s transfer, involving a fee of €20 million plus €2 million in add-ons. The deal is described as “done,” and Moscardo is expected to travel to Paris following the formal signing of the agreement.

Moscardo’s move to PSG marks the culmination of significant interest from major European clubs. Last month, there were reports of Chelsea reaching a deal for the Brazilian player, but these claims were later refuted.

Ryan Taylor of the Mirror clarified that no agreement was finalised between Chelsea and Corinthians, keeping the race for Moscardo’s signature open. Chelsea had shown early interest in Moscardo, submitting a bid in August, and Arsenal had also been monitoring the player, sending scouts to watch him.

In other transfer news, Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign Sporting CP centre-back Goncalo Inacio, joining other interested clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United.

This development comes ahead of the January transfer window, as reported by Portuguese outlet Jornal de Noticias. However, Sporting CP are firm on not lowering Inacio’s €60m release clause.

Recently, it was reported that Arsenal were considering an offer to Sporting involving a loan with an obligation to buy Inacio for €60m at the end of the season. Arsenal’s strategy was to delay the payment until summer while securing the player in January.

This approach mirrors a previous deal Sporting had with Tottenham Hotspur for Pedro Porro.

In England, some tabloids have mentioned Arsenal’s interest in Inacio, but more credible sources have not yet confirmed this. The tabloids also suggest that Arsenal might not be very active in the January transfer window unless there is a serious injury within the team.

Nonetheless, A Bola, another Portuguese publication, recently claimed that Arsenal might be willing to activate Inacio’s release clause, given Sporting’s stance on the sale.

Inacio, a Portuguese international, has a contract with Sporting CP until 2027. He has made 23 appearances this season, contributing significantly to Sporting’s success in domestic and European competitions, including leading them to the top of the Primeira Liga and into the Europa League knockouts.
