Arsenal are still interested in Pedro Neto of Wolves, though it’s unlikely to be a priority move for the club in the winter window.

The Athletic report that Arsenal are still interested in Wolves winger Pedro Neto, though the club’s desire to sign a wide forward has been overtaken by other priorities ahead of the January transfer window.

Neto is currently out of action with an injury, but The Athletic report that Gary O’Neil recently described the Portuguese international as “very close” to a comeback.

23-year-old Neto has been out of action for two months with a hamstring injury, somewhat quelling any interest in him for a winter transfer.

Neto had been in great form before the injury, right up until the minute he suffered it.

The winger set up Wolves’ opening goal in the first half against Newcastle United, his seventh assist in just 10 games this season, in addition to his one goal against Luton Town.

But the rest of the game didn’t go as planned, as the winger was forced off after pulling up holding his hamstring.

At the time, the suggestion was that the injury wouldn’t necessarily affect Arsenal’s pursuit of Neto, as a January move was already looking unlikely.

The Telegraph reported in October that Neto had made a visit to the office of sporting director Matt Hobbs, informing him he wouldn’t push for a transfer in January.

From a Wolves point of view, they had no plans to sell Neto mid-season anyway.

But Arsenal’s interest remains, and if Neto makes a strong comeback in 2024 then a summer bid could be on the cards.
