Arsenal believe Victor Osimhen will join the club in the summer, according to a report, though Napoli are interested in Gabriel Jesus going the other way.

Football insider Mo (@MoArsenal86) reports that sources claim Arsenal believe Victor Osimhen will join the club in the summer.

The same source adds that Napoli are interested in Gabriel Jesus, but Mo writes that he doesn’t expect Arsenal to let the striker go.

Earlier this week, Rai Sport journalist Ciro Venerato confirmed recent reports that Victor Osimhen is set to sign a new contract with Napoli, as well as the news that the deal will contain a release clause.

According to Venerato, the clause is £112m, but could rise to £120m.

Venerato went on to confirm that Arsenal have already approached Osimhen’s agent, and the player’s contract extension is effectively more of a “planned farewell”.

But the Gunners aren’t the only team in the race, with Chelsea also on his trail.

Charles Watts reported in May 2022 that Arsenal had held talks with Osimhen’s agent, with the agent flying into London for a meeting with Edu Gaspar.

At the time, Napoli weren’t willing to sell, and Arsenal turned to Gabriel Jesus instead.

But Watts told his YouTube channel in November that Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen would not have gone away, and the Gunners do want a striker in the summer.

Osimhen has seven goals and two assists in his 15 appearances between Serie A and the Champions League so far this season.

He’s helped Napoli through to the last-16 in Europe, where they could be set to face Arsenal, depending on the results of Monday’s draw.
